Joe Rogan Live!
I like Joe Rogan.
I like him as a comedian, an announcer for the UFC, and I always got a kick out of him on Fear Factor too. I am always stealing his posts off joerogan.net to share as well. When I found out he was coming to Winnipeg for a live show I got some tickets that day.
I wanted to give a good review so I hope this doesn’t come across too negative. My wife thinks sometimes I focus on the negative too much. Don’t get me wrong, Rogan was the bomb. Before the show even started he took over the mic to introduce Ari Shaffir and I already had some goosebumps just hearing him speak. I know that sounds really gay but it was like being cage side at the UFC.
“Ooooooh what you do to meeee, oooooooooh what you do to meeeeeee” – Plain White T’s.
Shaffir certainly set the tone for the night talking about how he was amazed at the amount of homeless people in Winnipeg and how he thinks all homeless people got there start here. Like they just come out of the creek and develop like tadpoles. It was funny shit. Shan didn’t really like his bit about the pregnant homeless lady that ate her baby for street credit. But he did his job because Rogan could pretty much say anything he liked after that without offending anyone.
Shan and I both agreed that when Rogan came out we were both a little starstruck. We just kind of looked at each other and I gave her the thumbs up. He is hilarious and true comic genius. He also has the smarts to back it all up and that certainly makes it more interesting for me. He makes you laugh by seeing things in a different light.
I was Twittering him all day to meet us for a steak at the Round Table but I guess he was just a little busy.
The show was awesome. He pulled out some old material that was great to see live and also had some stuff I have never seen before and I scour the internet looking for anything Joe Rogan has to say. I watch his podcasts on Ustream so it was neat to hear him talk about some of the same things they talk about on the show.
The lousy thing about the show was the Winnipeg crowd. Morons, the lot of you. I love Winnipeg and always frown on the haters of this great city but last night I was so embarrassed to be a part of that crowd. If I knew some jackass was going to yell something stupid every time Joe took a breath or a sip of beer, I would have drove to Saskatoon to see him. This isn’t the first time I have seen this in Winnipeg either and we don’t get out much. In the middle of a joke – “SAVE THE JETS WHOOOO” – and Joe would be like “What?”. “CANADA RULES MAN WHOOOO” – “Um OK”.
Joe was more than professional at handling the crowd well but there were a couple of thoughts he never got to finish because of the constant interruptions. I was more than embarrassed. I felt bad that Joe was missing the Ultimate Fighter conclusion to be here dealing with a bunch of idiots. It was bad.
We wanted to stick around after the show for a picture but I didn’t really want to be mistaken for a part of that crowd so we just waded through all the smokers until we found the truck and made for home. I am hoping that next time Joe takes me up on that steak but I highly doubt Winnipeg will be on his next tour.
